Niny's funeral was held on Tuesday 3 March 2009 at Barham Crematorium near Canterbury.

The Rev. John Harley, a long term family friend travelled down from London to take the service.

Koni made a speech during the service - here it is:

Dear Nana,

When I think of you a million wonderful words cascade down into my lap; happy, charming, elegant, loving, beautiful.

I feel absolutely privileged that you’ve been in my life for 17 years, helping to mould and develop my way of thinking, my way of loving and my way of being.

And some of the memories that you have given me will stay with me forever. Being really excited as we came down the impossibly narrow drive way, rushing out of mum’s car and running in for your beef stew and dumplings, pulling funny faces in front of you while you were asleep in front of the telly, kicking a football round your garden and being cautious not to interrupt your freshly sprung daffodils and waking up to an Audrey Hepburn type figure, puffing away in her dressing gown as she flicked through the morning paper.

I really can’t quite grasp what it’ll mean for you to be gone, no more tight, loving grasps of the hand, no more kisses blown through windows. I love you so much and will do forever, I miss you so much and I will do forever. “I love you too so daft bugger” you’d say with your classical smile and chuckle, as you nestled down underneath your duvet and continued to watch the Eastenders omnibus.

I want you to know how much i appreciate your input in my life and I want to say thank you. Thank you for all of the hugs, kisses, five pound notes and nuggets of knowledge, you have passed to me over the last 17 big ones. As my tears fall I must apologize – you hated to see me sad.

So i think that it is important for you to know that however much it pains me to let you go from this world I am safe in the comfort that I have an angel watching me from the other side.
