Living Medicine presents

Light and Shadow
Saturday 19th April
1 - 6pm
Adisham Canterbury
 £30 £25 concs.

Dear Friends,
It is clear now that at this time on the year's wheel that light is returning and fast. There is a quickening as we look around us in nature, in the Earth and the Air. We will look at how this is mirrored in us.
We speak of April Fools day and in other culture's we speak of Heyoka and Coyote. This is the time of shining the light and honouring the shadow within. This is an opportunity to look at the Great Cosmic jokes of Life and to laugh!

As a Circle the invitation is to look at what needs to be healed in the light and in the darkness with the support and guidance of the Medicine Wheel and the helping Spirits of this season. We will sing, drum and journey to enter this sacred, healing space in order to receive what we need right now to be in the place of Equilibrium.
Working with shamanic techniques, ritual and ceremony we can share our hearts and hold and support each other as we step into the place of Balance.

It would be great to see you there to do ceremony and healing together in the, as ever, magical circle.
In Love and Spirit, Alison.

Hot News!

Dancing Through the Dark
Eve Fri 18th - Sun 20th July A Full Moon Residential 5 Rhythms™ Dance weekend
Led with Tim Broughton
Wootton, Kent

We will dance through the night, moving from light to dark and on into the light of a new day; mirroring in our dance the patterns of light and dark in our psyche. As well as dancing the Rhythms there will be other structures to carry us through the night. We will greet the dawn outdoors in the gardens and woods, and return to rest before sharing something of our journeys together.
We will be camping in the grounds of Wooton Stable House with beautiful uninterrupted views over the rolling Kentish countryside. We have the use of a heated marquee with sound system.
Let go of your mind and let your body take you into your wildness, your tenderness, your joy – with yourself, with others. Come home to the ground of your being.
Somewhere in you the dancer is waiting, waiting to be recognised and given life in movement. All you need is yourself and your willingness to move and let the music touch you.

Venue:
YogaNature, Wootton Park Stable House, Wootton, Kent

Food (organic where possible and vegetarian) & accommodation: Camping £65.

Want to develop your presentation skills?

Every 2nd and 4th Tues of the month

Come along and have some challenging fun...

Canterbury Communicators is a speaking (and listening) and leadership development club.

We meet from 7.15 – 9.15pm at the Manor Barn.

Members of the club learn to give speeches and take on certain roles each evening. Leadership and communication skills are developed in a very supporting and fun atmosphere.

Guests are always welcome and encouraged to participate to get the most enjoyment from the evening - but we don't pressure you to. The club belongs to a world-wide umbrella organisation ‘Toastmasters’ – but we are far removed from the classic image of a toastmaster.

Charity Bluebell Walk Campaign 2008
at Shorne Country Park, Brewe

I am holding this years bluebell walk on Sunday 20th April, in support of the Canine Partners

The Canine Partners National Bluebell Walk Campaign is the perfect way to get active for a worthwhile cause.
There are three circular walks in the 288 acre park including bluebells in the ancient woodland, a dog swimming pond,
sensory garden, adventure playground and a trim trail for those wanting to do a bit of outdoor exercise on route.
The terrain is suitable for everyone, including wheelchair users but it is slightly hilly in areas. Shorne Country Park has
a lovely picnic area, café, toilets and ample parking facilities, (for which there is a £2.00 charge).

Money will be raised for Canine Partners either by getting friends, colleagues and relatives to sponsor you, pay a donation
on the day or contribute at http://www.justgiving.co.uk/petsinkent

The walk takes place in beautiful, and something for everyone, surroundings, we are hoping to raise plenty of money for Canine Partners.
I will be available all day to meet and greet. It would be nice to see people from the local area and beyond, as well as their dog(s),
to join us for an enjoyable walk as well as the opportunity to find out more about the work of Canine Partners.

For sponsorship forms and further information, please call me, Elaine, on 07802 882897 or see information on www.petsinkent.co.uk
Please visit the website www.caninepartners.co.uk or call Malcolm Wells, Canine Partners, 01730 716011 for information on
the Bluebell Walk Campaign 2008.

'Artichoke' - is an exciting new venture - a shop selling local Whitstable artist's work.

We are pleased to announce our January guest artist, Stephen Hall who sculpts wall and free-standing panels.
Stephen began his career in art with a three year ceramics course at Derby for which he gained a diploma with distinction. He now specialises in kiln fused glass; colourful and unique pieces of work that subtly evoke the interplay of air, water and light.

There will be a special private view party from 6 – 8 p.m. to showcase his work on Friday 11th January so if you are around and about at that time please drop in and share a glass of wine with him.

As some of you may know, we only have a short term tenancy of the Tankerton shop until the end of February – however we are looking for new premises in the Tankerton/Whitstable area so if anyone knows of
anything that might be suitable we would be very grateful if you would pass the information on to us !

The Review from the Canterbury Handbook:

One mid-week, January lunchtime we went for a light lunch, an easy trip out of town to the Chalkpit Farm Rural Shopping centre in Bekesbourne. As they say, Mama Feelgoods certainly does what it says on the tin. The small friendly café, with additional tables outside for wqrmer times, certainly left this Mama feelin’ good!

Simply, the food is imaginatively and expertly created and presented from quality, fresh ingredients, sourced locally. Some of those ingredients are also for sale in the coffee shop - a mini delicatessen with things you can’t easily get at the supermarket. There’s now a collection of fresh veg too.

I had a delicious, generous portion of smoked chicken Caesar salad with handmade croutons which left me totally satisfied. Muzz had some door-step sandwiches, made with organic farmhouse freshly baked bread with a salad garnish lightly drizzled with delicious olive oil dressing. I don’t think he was hungry when he left either. Humble mushrooms on toast on the next table looked a tempting choice for my next visit, as there certainly will be. As that regular fungi diner put it – there’s a magical twist somewhere added to each choice. “A touch of the continent in rural East Kent.” And check out the ‘work of art’ pudding enjoyed at another table!

Maddie started the café last year as a spin off from her successful catering business – The Dinner Service, also based at Chalkpit Farm. The café is warm, airy and light, with a comfy sofa as well as the wooden tables. The walls are lined with art for sale and children are very welcome and catered for. Breakfasts are offered, light lunches, afternoon teas and lastly, those gorgeous cakes and desserts – all made on the premises.

So, if you fancy a short trip out of the city one day, on your bike, by car (loads of parking) or even by train to the nearby Bekesbourne station and a ten minute walk, I’d thoroughly recommend the Feelgood experience - great coffee too!

A little bit about Kinesiology...

Kinesiology uses muscle-testing (see photo) to identify and clear physical, mental and emotional stress and pain, such as structural problems, relationship issues, depression, insomnia, learning difficulties, allergies, digestive problems and hormonal and energy imbalances.  It can also help improve performance and achieve goals, and it can be used to test for nutritional supplements.  By using your muscles as a feedback monitor, your body can indicate what corrections are needed and what is best for you, allowing you to take charge of your health and wellbeing.

Special offer this month !!!

50% off the first two appointments for anyone with a digestive problem, i.e. £30 per appointment rather than £60.

TREE OF LIFE TWO DAY COURSE

April 19th/20th
9.30 – 5pm

For anyone wishing to integrate the use of essences and essential oils into their daily life and live life joyfully and consciously according to Mother Nature’s seasons and the upward and inward phases of our lives.

Venue: School House Oast, Horsmonden, nr Paddock Wood, Kent
Cost : £120 (includes light vegetarian lunch on both days, handouts and 3 products to take home)
The Tree of Life environmental essences and essential oils were created to celebrate the passing seasons and the stages of life. Following the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the flow of energy in our bodies mirrors the energy of nature. One aspect of achieving and maintaining vibrant health is to work with the energy of nature at all times of year. For example, Winter is a time for replenishing our energy and visioning, Spring is time to shed any stagnant habits and begin new projects, Summer is time for action and to celebrate the beauty of nature while Autumn begins the gradual spiral downwards into quieter, more inward energy as we reflect on the year that has passed.

There are Essences and Essential Oils for each season:

  • Spring:Oestara and Flowering Essences and New Growth Essential Oil Blend
  • Early Summer:Coming Into Fullness Essence and Essential Oil Blend
  • Late Summer: Mother Earth Essence and Essential Oil Blend
  • Autumn: The Letting Go and Releasing Cellular Memory Essences and Alchemy Essential Oil Blend
  • Winter: Finding Stillness and Seed Essences and Invocation Essential Oil Blend

On this two day course we will:

  • Look at the 5 seasons according to Traditional Chinese Medicine and experience the Tree of Life
  • Essences and Essential Oils for each season
  • Learn Chi Kung exercises for each season
  • Look at different foods that are appropriate for each season
  • Learn to recognise constitutional types
  • The second day will include a product making workshop where you will make up a dosage strength bottle of essences for yourself and 2 products containing essential oils to take home

"The Lovelli photo evenings at my house were a warm, full of heart and soul occasion. Our living room was full of colour, chatter, attentive "looking" and laughter, conversations sparked off by the varied pictures. Sue was there to tell us about where and how they came about. I would love to have regular such evenings because of the warm and lovely feeling they leave behind them for many weeks after. People love and need to make real connections and such an opportunity is a perfect one!"

Office services including:

General Typing and....

Databases

Have you ever lost your address book - and all it's contents? How frustrating is that?

I'm now offering to put all your contact details into a file/CD - so they will never be lost again and can be updated whenever you fancy.... I'll creat a database which can then be used in a variety of ways - including creating a new address book at the click of a button (or two).

I'm even able to create a wire-bound booklet for your office or handbag. Even a sheet with all the details crammed on is possible.

Having your addresses and contacts on a database means that labels can easily be produced - so no more writing out all those addresses at Christmas.... and mass letters can be created with personal details included.

Cost? It depends on the time it takes to transfer your details - obviously things like the number of contacts and the legibility of your handwriting will be factors - but I aim to keep it affordable.

Wire binding - 80p a booklet - A4, A5 or smaller
